Rathborne's Legacy

Est. 1889

Rathborne’s history started in 1889 after Joseph Rathborne Sr. settled in New Orleans after successfully establishing the family wood milling business in Michigan. Nestled along the Mississippi River and what later became the Harvey Canal, an oak tree-lines piece of land became the Cypress Lumber Company. In the late 1930s, Joseph C. Rathborne, grandson of Joseph Rathborne Sr., evolved the family business into who we are today. Today, Rathborne’s portfolio spans across vibrant urban and commercial hubs across New Orleans, Harvey on the Westbank, Baton Rouge, and even vast holdings of iconic Louisiana cypress swamps.
